Gazing out our large corner window

after a week away

I see the birdbath empty

and rise the chair

without thought.

Author Biography

Lawrence Joseph Hergott, Professor of Medicine Senior Scholar In Creative Writing Center for Bioethics and Humanities University of Colorado School of Medicine

I am Professor of Medicine and a cardiologist and writer at the University of Colorado. I have had several essays and poems published(e.g., JAMA, Annals of Internal Medicine, The Expository Times [scholarly journal of the University of Edinburgh School of Divinity]), largely dealing with how medical practitioners and their loved ones lead the medical life. Two of my photographs have been published in NEJM, and three more have been accepted for publication. I have just been give a position as Senior Scholar In Creative Writing at the Univeristy of Colorado's Center for bioethics and Humanities.
