The Hub for Dying Teenagers: A Call for Change in Organ Donation and Transplantation
Abstract
This prose looks at the journeys of children with chronic illnesses, friends of mine who faced prolonged waiting periods for organ transplants, resulting in loss of life before their miracles ever came. As someone who received a life-saving transplant, their story is linked with my own as I reflect on my own experience with gratitude yet emphasizes the troubling reality that "luck" should not determine access to essential care.
