From the Corner of the OR
Abstract
This narriative medicine piece describes my experiences as a medical student. Oftentimes, medical students are joked to be "pieces of furniture" in the corner of the room. As a third-year student, the experience of being that "piece of furniture" has had real consequences on my mental and emotional welbieng. This piece explores the dehumanization that occurs for medical students within the hierarchy of medicine and highlights how patients are often the people who most care for us as students.
