Abstract

Jonathan is a snake in severe difficulty. It’s time to shed his skin, but there are anxieties from which he can’t wriggle free. He encounters a medical professional whose unusual approach to healing offers the prospect of a path back to contentment.

Author Biography

Adrian Chapman, University of Glasgow

Dr Adrian Chapman is currently a Wellcome Trust-funded Visiting Fellow (English Literature) in the Centre for Medical Humanities Research at University of Glasgow. There he is carrying out research into the radical Scottish psychiatrist and sixties countercultural figure, R. D. Laing. He has published articles in Literature and Medicine, and PsyArt: An Online Journal for the Psychological Study of the Arts. He has also had verse published by the University of Glasgow and has some short fiction forthcoming in The Journal of Medical Humanities.
